Intro To Retro Bowl
Retro Bowl is a fun little football game available on mobile devices and Nintendo Switch. It's a big-pixel throwback to the old NES days, similar to Tecmo Bowl.
I have created my own league based on the NFL's 32 teams format, with 2 conferences named "Stars" and "Stripes," and 4 regional divisions per conference (the same format used by Retro Bowl). The cities I've chosen are more or less the largest US cities without an NFL team (plus one in Canada). I've tried to base mascots on something related to the city or state, and almost arbitrarily chose colors/uniforms based on what I liked at the time, although I occasionally used the city flag colors for inspiration.
I'm going to start by playing a season as a random team and provide game-by-game recaps with some background on the league. A few notes on how I play:
1) Play will be on the "Extreme" difficulty setting. Other settings are pretty easy in this game and this will allow for a more realistic set of results (instead of just going 15-2 or 16-1 every season).
2) I don't punt or kick extra points or field goals. I don't even carry a kicker on the team. Sorry, kickers.
3) I try to play a balanced run/pass attack.
4) Games will have 3-minute quarters, which is the max offered on Retro Bowl.
5) Retro Bowl measures fan support and team morale on a scale of 1-100; they also provide "coach credits," which you spend on various facility upgrades and coach contracts. At the end of each recap, I'll provide a quick run-down of these items as well as any other team activity.
Here's the breakdown of teams:
